A woman accused with harassing Kate McCann apparently deposited her a voicemail message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the court learned phone records and data retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most publicized missing child cases and remains unresolved.

A separate voicemail, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I feel."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "What if there is a slight possibility that I am she? What happens next? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I only wish to understand," she added.

The jury was informed that via electronic messages, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the information, advised the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to family friends of the McCanns, based on the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."
