The Italian premier, Giorgia Meloni, plans to auction around 270 items bestowed upon her by foreign dignitaries during her travels. The eclectic collection could include items such as a chainsaw-wielding statuette of Argentina's leader Javier Milei and a pair of blue python skin shoes with gold heels.
These items, combined, are valued at around €800,000. The plan is to sold via competitive bidding by a Italian art dealer. An exact timeline remains to be announced, but the aim is to conduct the sale by year's end, with all funds raised donated to non-profit organizations.

These gifts are said to be stored in a secure area on the third floor of the government headquarters. Reports indicate that Meloni furthermore intending to auction off gifts received by her predecessors that have been stored away indefinitely.
The detailed catalog is yet to be disclosed, but a glimpse was gleaned earlier this year when an 11-page list of all declared gifts was reviewed by officials. The question centered on whether a statutory cap on gift value was being honored. By law, a prime minister is not permitted to keep presents valued above €300.

The collection includes:
- A woven wrap from the Albanian prime minister, allegedly presented to Meloni for her birthday during a meeting abroad.
- A traditional Kerala dress from India's prime minister.
- A case of jewelry from the Slovakian president.
- A porcelain tea set and a selection of wines from the Hungarian prime minister.
- A pottery dish from the former US president.
- A tablet from the Ukrainian president.
- Watercolour paintings from the Moldovan government.
- Additional objects including makeup, a board, and several rugs from trips to North African and Middle Eastern countries.
"Perhaps the oddest gifts were the statuette from Milei and the exotic footwear," one might note.

The prime minister has received praise, particularly from within her party, with garnering support from foreign leaders and positioning Italy as a significant player on the global scene once again.
