Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
