That Gruesome Cartoon Movie Ending That Stays With Fans
Among every adult-oriented cartoon movies I have ever watched, nothing has remained with me as much as the terror-laced finale of a graphically gory and deeply subversive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.
In 2015’s, this Spanish writer-director created a dark, somber and frequently brutal world that included some tiny , forlorn glimmers of optimism.
While Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a desire to advance the medium further, the filmmaker explained that it was rather an attempt to convey a widespread, cross-cultural theme about “the common origin of each battle.”
That idea is conveyed via a squad of vividly colored bears , openly based on a well-known line of cuddly figures.
Growing up in a community built around aggression and the defense industry, many of these creatures are consumed by killing the mythical beasts, thanks to a sacred text that tells the bears they used to be masters of the woodland, until the horned beings forced them out.
A few did not entirely fallen for the indoctrination, and would rather experiment with drugs and engage sexually outdoors.
In contrast to their cuddly equivalents, these bright beings display sexual organs , clear libidos.
For a particular notably brutal, skeptical animal, Bluey, the conflict against the unicorns turns into a road toward dominance — and especially to dominance over his more tender, kinder brother the character Tubby.
The character behaves aggressively , an obvious sociopath , and when terror overcomes his unit and claims his teammates individually, he seizes more and more power personally, in increasingly bloody, harmful methods.
Meanwhile, these mythical beings are experiencing their own nightmare, through a spreading, harmful creature in their woods.
“In the early stages, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker stated. “Yet it evolves into a more serious and sad film. And ultimately, it’s a terrifying movie.”
Unicorn Wars begins similar to among the whimsical features by a renowned animator, which find a mischievous joy in allowing drawn beings curse, shoot each other, or sex each other up.
Subsequently it evolves into something more like a more grim film from the same creator, including ever more visual gore , a tangible connection to genuine suffering of conflict.
Ultimately, it becomes a full-on extreme drama massacre.
The fear that turns the film a Halloween-friendly watch starts much sooner than indicated.
Unicorn Wars is ideal for the devoted lovers of violence, for fans of graphic films who want to watch a film they’ve never viewed until now, and who can handle a narrative which delivers absolutely no punches.
View it in a dark room without any distractions, and the finale will burrow into your mind and linger.
